Mission Update: GUCC Volunteers Fighting Hunger in Hunterdon County

Well, what a week! I delivered food every day except on Monday when Jack beat me to it. Put 74 miles on the car and delivered or helped with 20 boxes for food pantries and 10 boxes for the Salvation Army Summer Lunch Club program (those fed 22 kids and 17 adults with three meals each).

Mission Update: Volunteering for The Salvation Army Lunch Club

Despite the heat yesterday and today (Heat factors either 99 or 100), Jeanne and I helped pack (today) and deliver (yesterday and today) 15 boxes of food for the Salvation Army Lunch Club. [This program is funded by a grant from the USDA and augments the school lunch program that is suspended during the summer.] The SALC delivers 432 meals a week.

Jean Taylor helped pack over 40 bags of vegetables.

Each box has three meals per person and between three and six people per box. Jeanne and I delivered 7 boxes yesterday and 4 boxes today. We covered 73 miles of Hunterdon County in those two days making the deliveries.
